Look what I can do
July 22nd, 2008

Well it’s summer in the delta. We have been busy since Colin’s return from the beach. He had a great time although we are curious how long it will be until Graham and Grandad are ready to keep Colin overnight again. ha!
We celebrated the 4th at Autozone Park, watching the Redbirds baseball game and fireworks afterwards. Colin had a great time. He had never been to a game or seen fireworks and it was a lot of fun to watch his reaction, wonder and excitement about everything.
We will be celebrating Colin’s 4th birthday at his school on the 9th, Colin has decided he will be making the cupcakes this year, so that should be interesting and hopefully non-toxic. I will be supervising of course. We will also be entertaining him and a few friends at Chuck-E-Cheese on Saturday the 12th. Fun Times! Colin has requested the “bad guy spider-man venom cake” …..so of course I just can’t deny him, he’s only 4 once.
Colin also got a beta fish for his birthday that he promptly named him “Jack”. I am thinking this is b/c of the movie “Pirates of the Carribean” and the character “Jack”, but I could be mistaken.

Colin has been caught several times with his hands in the tank trying to “give jack some love”, and thankfully Jack seems able to handle Colin’s enthusiasm.
Congratulations to Mike and Teresa on the birth of their beautiful daughter. Born July 6, 2008 at 5:28 am in the loving environment of their living room. Abigail Lee Brown was a healthy 8lbs. 12oz. and a little over 19 inches long. We are so very happy for their family and new edition and can’t wait to meet the new little one.
I am sure the later half of the month will prove to be just as eventful. Just give it time and anything will.
Peace to all and may you weather the heat and mosquitoes, or at least drink enough not to really care.
Oh and who has a pool or pool access….I need a pool!!! Call me!

A recession is a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. A recession begins just after the economy reaches a peak of activity and ends as the economy reaches its trough.
. A severe or long recession is referred to as an economic depression. Although the distinction between a recession and a depression is not clearly defined, it is often said that a decline in GDP of more than 10% constitutes a depression.[1] A devastating breakdown of an economy (essentially, a severe depression, or a hyperinflation, depending on the circumstances) is called economic collapse.

-Prices for basic items such as bread and milk pushed food prices up by almost 1% in April alone; bread costs 14.1% more than it did a year ago, milk 13.5% more.
-Kindergarteners in Baton Rouge are hoarding part of their lunches to eat later at home, says Mike Manning, president of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
-At Bread for the City in Washington, less than 2 miles from the White House and the Capitol, food and clothing director Ted Pringle can’t buy cereal anymore because of the price of grain, wheat and corn. Fresh fruit jumped by 3.2% nationally in April. “It scares me to buy fruit,” Pringle says.
